The young lady said she summoned the courage to call her father on the phone but admitted that his response had left her crushed.

First class graduate shares dad's response

When her dad answered, she said he cut her off and cut the call before she completed her rehearsed greeting.

    However, she affirmed her belief in someday flying to America and becoming a woman of influence.

    The caption of the TikTok video read:

    Child psychologist advises graduate to seek help

    Child psychologist Uzoamaka Nwachukwu has weighed in on the emotional impact of abandonment on children, following the story of a first-class graduate who was rejected by her biological father after 17 years.

    According to Nwachukwu, professional help is crucial in such situations. The mental health practitioner told Legit.ng:

    "There are lots of questions to be asked and background checks to be done."

    Nwachukwu emphasised the importance of seeking professional help, saying:

    "I believe it's a private matter and professional help should be sought with a therapist, for the girl's mental health and general wellbeing."

    For others who may be struggling with similar experiences, Nwachukwu advised:

    "On behalf of others going through such, they should seek professional help.”

    In a related story, Legit.ng reported that a single mum had shared the transformation of her child who was abandoned and denied by her dad.

    Lady abandoned by dad gets huge award

    Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that a lady who was abandoned by her father had received a major academic award.

    Years after her dad kicked against her mum's decision to send her to school, the lady graduated at 20 with a degree in biomedicine.

    In addition to earning the prestigious degree from her university, she also received the coveted Golden Heart Award for her effort.
